Ayodhya, July 7: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Tuesday said all gold, silver, and other valuable gifts donated to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir are safe. The clarification came amid an ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of temple donations.
Trust Treasurer Swami Govinda Dev Giri said the temple has received 32.259 kg of gold and 1,518 kg of silver as of March 31, 2026. He added that all donated valuables are properly documented and verified every year.
According to the trust, devotees have donated 2,926 valuable items to the temple so far. It said every item is recorded, and the inventory includes the donor’s details.
The trust also rejected reports claiming that a gold Ramcharitmanas, a diamond necklace, silver foot sandals, and a silver Kakabhushundi artwork had gone missing. To support its claim, the trust displayed the items before the media.
Govinda Dev Giri said the temple received 16.765 kg of gold by March 31, 2024. It received another 10.445 kg during 2024 and 25 and 5.050 kg during 2025 and 26, taking the total to 32.259 kg.
He added that after refining donated silver, the temple currently holds 849 kg of refined silver. Overall, the temple’s silver holdings stood at 1,518 kg as of March 31, 2026.
Furthermore, Giri said chartered accountants verify the inventory every year to ensure proper accounting and transparency.
The statement comes after the arrest of eight people in connection with the alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The investigation into the case is continuing.
