Hyderabad, Sep 17 (Maxim News): The makers of director Rahul Sankrityan’s period action drama Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, have announced that the film’s shooting has been completed.
Rahul Sankrityan shared a video of the film’s unit on X and announced the completion of the shoot. The director said the team had completed 130 days of filming, describing the journey as “130 days of madness” with his “relentless and restless army.”
The announcement comes a day after the makers revealed that the background music for the first half of the film had been completed. The production team has indicated that the movie is on track to be ready ahead of its scheduled release on October 16, 2026.
Rashmika Mandanna’s Jayamma Character Named After Director’s Mother
Two days earlier, Sankrityan revealed that he named Rashmika Mandanna’s character Jayamma after his mother. Announcing the completion of Rashmika’s portions, the director said the character was created from a deeply personal place while writing the film.
He said he wanted Jayamma to be a woman who could inspire women today, despite belonging to another era. Sankrityan also described the character as the love in Ranabaali’s heart and the spirit in his soul.
The director praised Rashmika for bringing Jayamma to life and said audiences would see the character on October 16.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, with T-Series presenting the film, Ranabaali is set against a British-era backdrop. The movie is being made as a period action drama set in the 19th century and is described as being based on historical events from between 1854 and 1878.
According to sources cited in the film’s development, Ranabaali draws inspiration from incidents from the 1850s that allegedly received little attention in mainstream historical accounts. The film is said to explore events from the broader 1850-1900 period.
The sources have also described Ranabaali as neither a biopic nor a textbook retelling. Instead, it is expected to present a cinematic reconstruction of its era based on multiple real accounts, oral histories and historical records.
Ranabaali marks the third film pairing Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, following their collaborations in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.
