RBI Praise for Telangana Indicates Tremendous Growth of State: Vinod

Hyderabad, Sept.25 (Maxim News): State Planning Board vice-chairman Boinpalli Vinod Kumar said that Telangana set an example for registering precedented progress in agriculture, forest, and fisheries sectors and the appreciation of the Reserve Bank of India in its latest report would indicate the State government’s efforts in the advancement of these sectors.

In a release here on Sunday, Vinod Kumar reminded the latest RBI report – “Handbook of Statistics on the Indian Economy -2020-2021”, which mentioned that Telangana stands at the top position among all States by registering double growth in agriculture in a period of five years.

He said the net state value added by economic activity from agriculture, forestry, and fishing has increased from Rs 95,000 crore in 2017-2018 to a whopping Rs 1.81 lakh crore in 2020-2021.

Stating that the net state value added by the economic activity from agriculture had increased 100 percent during the five-year period 2017-2021, Vinod Kumar said the paddy production had increased from 62,000 metric tonnes in 2017 to 1.23lakh metric tonnes in 2021.

He said the report also mentioned that total food grain production (including pulses) was 1.50 lakh metric tonnes in 2021 against 94,000 metric tonnes in 2017. States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal which are considered to be the fastest growing States in the agriculture sector registered only 30 percent to 40 percent growth in farm production, whereas Telangana reported 100 percent growth.

“The RBI is all praise for Telangana on its tremendous growth. It also stated that this growth is due to the schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Beema, free 24×7 electricity to farmers, etc. implemented by the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao with immense focus on developing the agriculture and allied sectors,” he added.
