Reducing Wages That Need To Be Increased, Is This The Way To Govern: Bandi Sanjay To Revanth

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (Maxim News): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay said that the way the state government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is treating the outsourced sanitation employees working in the municipalities of the state is evil. The role of sanitation staff is very crucial in the cleanliness of the cities. The services they provided at the risk of their lives during the Corona pandemic are unforgettable. The unfortunate thing is… from that day till today, despite the demands for a salary increase, they are not being heeded. Moreover, issuing orders reducing the salaries of municipal drivers and work inspectors is unethical.

On behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, we express strong objection. It is customary to increase the salaries and allowances of employees, keeping in mind the rising prices of essential commodities and other expenses, every year. But to what extent is it reasonable for the state government to impose a huge cut in the salaries when it has not increased them to that extent? While sanitary inspectors are currently paid a monthly salary of Rs. 22,000, reducing that salary to Rs. 16,600 is unjust. How fair is it to impose a similar cut on drivers?

There are 30,955 outsourcing staff working in municipalities across the state. On June 11, 2021, orders were issued increasing the salaries of all contract and outsourcing employees by 30 percent. Since then, i.e., for the last four years, there has been no increase in salaries. Moreover, we consider it a reckless move by the Congress government to cut the salaries of nearly 3,000 sanitary inspectors and drivers by more than 25 percent. To what extent is it reasonable for the Congress to promise to increase the salaries of outsourcing and contract employees if it comes to power and act differently?

Even though 5 DAs are pending for state government employees and teachers, they are not being paid. They are also making it difficult for them to withdraw the money saved in GPF. Finally, they are harassing the employees by making them walk around the offices until their feet get wet without giving them retirement benefits.

It is sad that the Congress party has not changed its behavior despite being taught a lesson in the MLC elections. Today, when we see the huge cut in the salaries of outsourced sanitary inspectors and drivers working in municipalities, the Congress’s antipathy towards employees, contract and outsourcing staff is understandable. The people of Telangana are wise. They are watching everything. We, on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, demand that the mistake made be immediately corrected and the salaries of municipal drivers and sanitation work inspectors be adjusted, as well as the salaries of all outsourced and contract staff working in municipalities across the state be increased.
