Hyderabad, June 16: A 24 year old woman from Nagpur has alleged that she was forcibly converted to Islam, threatened, and subjected to harassment, leading police to arrest two accused and launch a wider investigation.
According to police, the accused were identified as Ayyaz Taj Madare and Amin Sheikh. Authorities registered a case under charges including rape, blackmail, criminal intimidation and alleged forced religious conversion. Police teams are also searching for another accused identified as Hazrat Maulana in Madhya Pradesh.
Investigators said the woman and the main accused had studied in the same school earlier. They reportedly reconnected during a property related matter. According to the complaint, they met at a hotel in February 2025.
The woman alleged that she was given an intoxicating substance during the meeting. She further claimed that objectionable photos and videos were recorded and later used to threaten her.
The complainant stated that the accused allegedly threatened to circulate the material to her husband, who serves in the Indian Air Force and is currently posted in Nagpur.
She also alleged that she was forced to hand over around Rs 4 lakh over a period of time. In her statement, she claimed she was repeatedly administered unidentified liquids, subjected to rituals and sexually assaulted.
Police said the woman further alleged that on May 31 she was taken to the Kalmeshwar area where a religious conversion ceremony was conducted against her wishes.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rushikesh Reddy confirmed that a case has been registered at Sonegaon Police Station and the investigation is continuing.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the ongoing probe.
