CM Revanth Reddy Calls For Bonus On Fine Rice Varieties

Hyderabad, June 16: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed the Agriculture Department to ensure availability of seven varieties of fine rice eligible for bonus and strengthen support for farmers through technology and coordinated planning.

During a review meeting on agriculture held at Bodhi Pavilion in MCRHRD, Hyderabad, the Chief Minister asked officials to maintain a complete assessment of grain production and improve seed distribution through Rythu Vedikas.

He instructed officials to make seven selected fine rice varieties available on subsidy and expand the pilot project currently being implemented in Dammapeta mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to collect detailed data on farmers cultivating small grains and improve planning based on field level information.

Bonus on Fine Rice Varieties and Technology Push

Revanth Reddy stressed greater use of technology in agriculture and called for wider adoption of artificial intelligence. He suggested that the Agriculture University act as the nodal agency to drive innovation and support farmers.

He asked the Agriculture Department, Civil Supplies Department and Agriculture University to work in coordination from seed distribution to crop procurement.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to reduce losses in Markfed operations and strengthen Oilfed activities across the state.

Further, he proposed creating a dedicated app for agricultural medicines. He instructed that urea booked through the app should be distributed through Rythu Vedikas under the supervision of district additional collectors.

Revanth Reddy also directed officials to regularly write to the Centre seeking adequate allocation of urea and other fertilisers.

He further suggested increasing pressure on the Centre to ensure fertiliser produced at the Ramagundam fertiliser unit is allocated to Telangana.

The Chief Minister proposed holding a meeting with MPs from all political parties to explain the fertiliser situation and seek coordinated support.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Sridhar Babu, Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and senior officials attended the meeting.
