A long-standing custom at the Renuka Yellamma Temple in Siddipet has drawn steady attention from devotees across several districts. The temple, located near Chintal Lake close to the agricultural market yard, follows a special practice of serving meat to worshippers every Tuesday. This unique offering has become a major part of the temple’s identity and continues to be a central attraction for visitors.

The temple’s origins trace back to the ancestors of the Krishna Reddy family. They said their mother Renuka Yellamma guided them to allocate 6 acres and 12 holes of their land for the temple. They measured the land with their hands and built a small shrine on it. However, later generations sold the remaining land, except for the temple area, to meet personal needs. Then, around 15 years ago, a woman from the same family reportedly had a dream that directed her to rebuild the temple on the same land. She spent Rs 25 lakh of her own money to complete the reconstruction. Since then, the number of devotees visiting the Renuka Yellamma temple has increased.

Devotees worship the goddess as Chintal Cheruvu Renuka Yellamma Swayambhu. People from Siddipet district and faraway places such as Nizamabad, Bhodan, Bhainsa, Maharashtra, Peddapalli, Mustabad and Mancheria visit the temple daily. Members of the Krishna Reddy family and another family from Siddipet handle the temple services. The anniversary of the temple is celebrated with great enthusiasm on May 18 every year.

The temple management has been offering annadanam to devotees since the idol’s installation and the completion of the reconstruction. Initially, the temple served only vegetarian food. However, devotees began offering goats in procession on Tuesdays when their wishes were fulfilled. Therefore, while vegetarian food is still provided on other days, the temple has followed a Tuesday tradition of serving non-vegetarian food for the past three years.
