Hyderabad: The central government announced Republic Day police awards for 982 police officers on the occasion of Republic Day 2026. The awards cover police personnel, fire personnel, and home guards. Gallantry medals and service medals form part of the honours announced. The decision highlights recognition for duty, service, and acts of courage across multiple forces.
According to the announcement, six Central Bureau of Investigation officers were selected for the President’s Awards, also known as the President Police Medal 2026. Meanwhile, 25 people will receive police medals on the occasion of Republic Day. The awards list includes officers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The announcement came from Delhi and Hyderabad on January 25.
Head Constable Marri Venkat Reddy from Telangana has been selected for a gallantry award. Meanwhile, ASP R.M.K. Tirumalachari from Andhra Pradesh received the President’s Medal. Additional SP G.S. Prakash Rao from Telangana also received the President’s Medal. The selection reflects contributions across ranks and services.
Later, officials confirmed that SI Damodar Reddy from Telangana has been awarded the President’s Medal. Similarly, 12 people were selected in the Medal for Meritorious Service category. IG Sumati received the Medal for Meritorious Service award. These awards recognise consistent service and professional commitment over time.
Meanwhile, three people were awarded in the MSM Fire category. Three others were selected in the MSM Home Guard and Civil Defence categories. In addition, two people were selected for awards in the MSM Correctional Service category. The announcement also included details from Andhra Pradesh. From the state, three people in the MSM Correctional Service category and 15 people in the Medal for Meritorious Service category will receive awards.
Therefore, the Republic Day police awards this year cover a wide range of services and roles. The honours recognise gallantry, meritorious service, and long-term dedication. Officials said the awards reflect the government’s decision to acknowledge contributions across police, fire, home guard, and correctional services. The awards will be conferred as part of Republic Day celebrations.
