Revanth Reddy Awards Rs. 1 Crore To Singer Rahul Sipligunj During Bonalu

Hyderabad, July 20, 2025 — In a heartfelt gesture that celebrates local talent and cultural pride, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has awarded ₹1 crore to internationally acclaimed singer Rahul Sipligunj during the Bonalu festival celebrations in Hyderabad’s Old City.

The announcement, made on Saturday, fulfills a personal promise made by the Chief Minister prior to the 2023 elections. At the time, Revanth Reddy—then TPCC president—had committed to extending financial support to Sipligunj, recognizing the singer’s journey from the bylanes of Hyderabad to the global stage.

From Old City to the Oscars

Rahul Sipligunj, a homegrown artist with roots in the Old City of Hyderabad, gained worldwide fame with the Oscar-winning song “Naatu Naatu” from S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster film RRR. His rise has been an inspiration to thousands of aspiring musicians across Telangana and India.

In his statement, CM Revanth Reddy praised Sipligunj as a “shining example of Telangana’s youth”, applauding his grit, hard work, and musical excellence.

Before the Congress party came to power in Telangana, Revanth Reddy had assured a ₹10 lakh financial aid to Sipligunj and had hinted at a larger reward once elected. During the recent Gaddar Awards, the Chief Minister reiterated this commitment, and now, during the Bonalu festivities, he delivered on his word by presenting the singer with a ₹1 crore cash award.

The event was seen not only as a celebration of Sipligunj’s success but also as a cultural affirmation of Telangana’s support for its artists.
