Hyderabad, May 8 (Maxim News): A. Revanth Reddy on Friday flagged off buses carrying Hajj pilgrims at the Haj House in Nampally.
Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and Asaduddin Owaisi attended the programme along with senior officials, religious leaders, and public representatives.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the Telangana government is committed to ensuring minorities receive their rightful share in welfare, employment, and development. He stated that the government is implementing several welfare programmes for minority communities across the state.
Revanth Reddy recalled that 44 pilgrims from Telangana lost their lives in a bus accident during last year’s Hajj pilgrimage. Therefore, the Telangana government provided an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased pilgrims.
The Chief Minister said the government is ensuring minorities receive fair opportunities in employment and welfare schemes. In addition, minority students are receiving overseas education scholarships to support higher studies abroad.
Telangana expands welfare support for Hajj pilgrims
Revanth Reddy observed that global demand for blue collar jobs is increasing rapidly. He said countries such as Germany and Japan currently offer more employment opportunities than the United States in several skilled sectors. Therefore, the Telangana government is upgrading ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres and expanding skill development programmes for youth.
The Chief Minister noted that many minority families in Hyderabad depend on auto rickshaws for their livelihood. Hence, the government decided to provide free retrofitting for autos operating within the Outer Ring Road limits and convert them into electric vehicles. He said the initiative would help drivers save money on fuel and improve their financial condition.

Revanth Reddy also said the Iran Iraq conflict caused a rise in aviation fuel prices. As a result, Hajj airfare charges increased this year. However, he assured pilgrims that the Telangana government would bear the additional financial burden so that pilgrims do not face extra hardship.
The Chief Minister stressed that the government does not believe in Hindu Muslim discrimination. He said “Hindu Muslim Bhai Bhai” reflects the spirit of Telangana’s communal harmony and social unity.
He also alleged that attempts are being made to delete votes in Telangana in the name of Special Intensive Revision. Therefore, he urged people to remain united and ensure that situations reported in some other states do not arise in Telangana.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Revanth Reddy said Telangana should emerge as the number one state in the country in development and inclusive welfare.
Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin advised pilgrims to maintain patience, humility, discipline, and proper etiquette during the Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah and near the Kaaba. He asked pilgrims to spend maximum time in prayers and strictly follow the laws and regulations of Saudi Arabia.
Azharuddin also appealed to pilgrims to pray for Telangana’s prosperity and development. Furthermore, he assured them that the Telangana government would extend support whenever required during the pilgrimage.
The Minister congratulated the Telangana State Haj Committee Chairman, Executive Officer, and committee members for making excellent arrangements for the pilgrims. He also thanked the Chief Minister for extending full support and special attention to minority welfare programmes and Hajj related services.
The programme was attended by Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, MLA Jaffer Hussain, MLC Mirza Riyaz, TGMREIS President Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi, Haj Committee Chairman Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani, Wakf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, TGMFC Chairman Mohammed Obedullah Kotwal, Urdu Academy President Taher Bin Hamdan, and other dignitaries.
