Hyderabad: A. Revanth Reddy reviewed Minority Welfare Department programmes at the Secretariat on Friday. He directed officials to improve education, skill training, and welfare services for minority communities across Telangana.
Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and senior officials attended the meeting. The Chief Minister asked the department to open special degree colleges for minority students in all unified district headquarters. He said the colleges must focus on skill development and Artificial Intelligence training.
Revanth Reddy said students should not depend only on traditional courses. Instead, they should learn skills that improve job opportunities and livelihoods. Therefore, he instructed officials to design employment oriented programmes in the new colleges.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to introduce a special incentive scheme for meritorious minority students. He said the programme should follow the model already used for BC, SC, and ST students. In addition, he suggested inviting successful Group Services officers and sportspersons to student events. According to him, their success stories would motivate students to focus on education and sports.
Telangana focuses on AI education and welfare reforms
Revanth Reddy instructed officials to introduce AI based teaching methods in minority schools. He said modern education would help students compete for future jobs. Meanwhile, he also ordered officials to ensure regular payment of honorariums to Imams and Mouzams.
The Chief Minister further asked the department to identify minority candidates selected for Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 services. He said interested officers should work with the Minority Welfare Department. Moreover, they should receive training on welfare schemes and administration.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy also discussed welfare measures for auto drivers. He said the government is preparing a plan to convert petrol and diesel autos into electric vehicles. As a result, drivers may reduce fuel expenses and improve their income.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to allocate land for graveyards wherever land is available. At the same time, he reviewed plans linked to the Musi Riverfront development project.
As part of the project, Revanth Reddy ordered officials to build a mosque, church, and gurudwara along with a temple. He said the structures should reflect the culture of each religion. Furthermore, they should showcase Telangana’s Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb and communal harmony.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that these structures would become centres for cultural and civilizational studies in the future. He said the project should promote coexistence, inclusiveness, and Telangana’s shared cultural identity.
The meeting was attended by Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali, TGMREIS President Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi, CM OSD Vemula Srinivasulu, Haj Committee Chairman Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani, Wakf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Mohammed Obedullah Kotwal, Urdu Academy President Taher Bin Hamdan, Christian Minority Corporation Chairman Deepak John Kokadan, Minority Welfare Secretary Shafiullah, and other senior officials.
