The term of the commission concludes on Thursday, with reports indicating that Justice Ghosh will sign the final document tomorrow. However, sources suggest that the state may extend the tenure of the commission by another 2–3 days to ensure a smooth submission process and possibly finalize minor additions.

High Stakes Over Kaleshwaram Corruption Allegations

The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, a flagship initiative during K. Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) regime, has been under scrutiny over alleged large-scale corruption and irregularities. In response to these serious allegations, the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government formed a judicial commission headed by former Supreme Court Judge Pinaki Chandra Ghose earlier this year to probe into the project’s execution, finances, and approvals.

The Commission has interrogated several high-profile figures, including former Chief Minister KCR, former ministers T. Harish Rao and Etela Rajender, along with key officials involved in the planning and execution of the project.

ACB Raids, Key Evidence Seized

Apart from the Commission’s investigation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) also conducted raids at the residences of multiple officials linked to the project. During these raids, the ACB seized critical documents, some of which were forwarded to the Commission and state authorities. These documents are believed to have added significant weight to the findings of the report.

Assembly Discussion and Possible Action

With the final report in hand, the Revanth Reddy government is preparing to table the findings in the Assembly. Sources say that action could follow immediately after the discussion, depending on the recommendations made in the report. Public interest and political anticipation are running high, especially considering the magnitude of funds involved and the allegations of misuse during the BRS government’s tenure.
