Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to explore a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system for congested parts of Hyderabad. The proposed system aims to improve last-mile connectivity between residential areas, industrial hubs and existing public transport networks.
During a review meeting on Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) projects on Friday, the Chief Minister asked officials to study leading PRT systems worldwide. He directed them to submit a report at the earliest.
The proposed network should connect high-footfall locations and employment centres with Metro Rail, MMTS and bus stations. Revanth Reddy stressed advanced technology, suitable locations and efficient maintenance while planning the system.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to accelerate flyover and underpass construction across the CURE region. He reviewed traffic management around KBR Park and called for smoother movement under the proposed one-way system.
He instructed officials to speed up utility shifting and improve arrangements at junctions, free-left turns and U-turns. He also directed them to expedite the flyover connecting Nagarjuna Circle with Jubilee Check Post.
Citing infrastructure development in Mumbai, Revanth Reddy asked officials to study its construction technologies and methods. He directed them to aim to complete the projects taken up within one year.
The Chief Minister also asked officials to examine a radial road parallel to the proposed Hyderabad–Mumbai bullet train corridor. He sought a feasibility assessment for widening existing roads and constructing new routes between Shankarpally and Chevella.
The meeting also reviewed plans to expand the use of recycled water. Officials informed the Chief Minister that proposals were ready to utilise 500 million litres per day (MLD) of recycled water.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to facilitate its use at data centres in Bharat Future City, Chandanvelly and Aluru. He also called for supplying recycled water to other industries, high-rise buildings, landscaped areas and parks where suitable.
The proposed reuse would help reduce dependence on fresh water for non-drinking purposes. Officials were asked to expedite the relevant projects and prepare a comprehensive assessment of recycled water demand and supply.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s Secretary Manick Raj, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited adviser N.V.S. Reddy, Additional Managing Director Ajith Reddy and several municipal commissioners. Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy and other officials also participated.
