Sangareddy/Hyderabad, Aug 15: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy accused the BJP and BRS of failing to prioritise food security for the poor.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the distribution of new smart ration cards in Sangareddy.
Revanth Reddy said ration cards were not merely documents for receiving rice but represented the self respect and food security of poor families.
He claimed the Congress government was implementing welfare programmes by following the legacy of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Revanth Reddy Highlights Farmer And Women Welfare
The Chief Minister questioned whether the BJP and BRS had ever considered providing rice to poor families.
He said the supply of rice through ration shops had also contributed to lower rice prices in the market.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s claims on farmer loan waivers, paddy procurement and Rythu Bandhu payments.
He said the government had deposited ₹36,000 crore in Rythu Bandhu funds into the accounts of 70 lakh farmers.
He also claimed that the government had procured paddy worth ₹90,000 crore and spent ₹35,000 crore annually on free farm electricity.
Revanth Reddy also highlighted free RTC bus travel for women and other welfare initiatives.
He said the government had provided ₹11,000 crore to the RTC to support the free travel scheme.
The Chief Minister also appealed to unemployed youth not to fall for false promises or political inducements.
He urged them to concentrate on their studies and competitive examinations.
Revanth Reddy said providing employment opportunities and supporting unemployed youth was the government’s responsibility.
He asked people to compare the performance of the BJP-led government at the Centre, the previous BRS government and the Congress government in Telangana.
