The 100 kg flag was stitched by Flags and Poles using polyester cloth sourced from Surat in Gujarat.

A large crowd gathered at the municipal ground to witness the flag hoisting ceremony.

The flag was installed on a 420 foot tall flagpole, adding to the scale of the event.

Flags and Poles founder K Padmavathi said the agency used high quality cloth for the flag.

She said the material does not wrinkle, shrink or fade easily.

It also retains its shape, dries quickly and can withstand strong winds, she added.

The agency took one week to stitch the flag according to dimensions prescribed under the Flag Code of India.

After completion, the flag traveled around 380 km from Hyderabad to Hospet.

It reached Hospet two days before Independence Day.

Padmavathi said the project was a proud moment for her family.

Her elder son K Srikanth provided technical support for installing the 420 foot flagpole.
