Riyaz Encounter: Asif’s Bravery Praised By DGP Shivadhar Reddy

Hyderabad, Oct 21: Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy praised bike mechanic Asif for his brave act during the bid to catch Riyaz, the accused in the Nizamabad constable murder case.

He met Asif at Glenfield Malla Reddy Hospital in Nampally Fateh Maidan, where the youth is under treatment for serious hand injuries suffered while trying to restrain the suspect.

The DGP said Asif showed rare courage in a dangerous situation.

Speaking after the hospital visit, the DGP stated that Asif’s health is stable.

He said doctors performed surgery and restored the hand to its original shape.

He added that except for one bone, there were no other complications when Asif reached the hospital.

However, he noted that recovery will take time and will be monitored by the medical team.

DGP Shivadhar Reddy announced that the government will bear all treatment expenses for Asif.

He also said the department will send Asif’s name to the Government of India for a gallantry award. He called the act “a great” example of public courage, saying Asif “held” a “dangerous criminal” even when the accused had a knife.

He commended Asif’s spirit and said such bravery deserves recognition and support.

The DGP also mentioned Asif’s background as a welding worker. He said the police department will extend all necessary help to him.

Meanwhile, he explained that Asif may be discharged from the hospital in two to three days depending on recovery.

Then, complete healing could take about two to three months, according to the DGP’s assessment shared after consulting doctors.

He reiterated that the department stands by citizens who aid law enforcement in critical moments.

Therefore, the assurance of medical support and the gallantry recommendation reflect the state’s appreciation for Asif’s timely intervention.

The visit also underscored the message that such acts of courage can save lives and help the police in apprehending violent offenders.
