Gurugram/Hyderabad, May 16 (Maxim News): Prominent businessman and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra has been granted bail in the Gurugram land scam and money laundering case in Haryana. The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi granted him bail. This came as a big relief to Vadra. The special court granted conditional bail to Vadra, who appeared in person in court today.
Going into details, Robert Vadra’s Skylight Hospitality bought 3.53 acres of land in Shikohpur village in Haryana from Onkarvegar Properties in 2008. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that Vadra submitted false documents during the deal and made transactions without paying any cash (through a dishonorable cheque). The ED has alleged that he used his political influence at the time to obtain a commercial license for the land and later sold it to DLF for a huge profit.
The ED has made it clear in its charge sheet that Rs 58 crore was illegally obtained through this entire affair under the PMLA Act. The special court, which examined the chargesheet in this case, issued summons to Robert Vadra and ordered him to appear before it on May 16. Vadra appeared for the hearing on Saturday as per the court’s orders. On this occasion, the court granted bail on the condition that he furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety of the same amount.
Later, Vadra spoke to the media and said that he has full faith in the country’s judiciary. However, he alleged that the ED, the investigating agency, is acting completely as directed by the central government and is acting as directed by the government to embarrass him. He made it clear that he has nothing to hide. (Maxim News)
