Hyderabad, May 1: An RTC checking officer was attacked after allegedly demanding a bribe from a conductor during a bus inspection near Raikode.
The incident triggered tension among passengers and locals.
RTC Checking Officer Bribery Allegation
The bus belonged to the Narayankhed depot and was travelling from Hyderabad to Narayankhed via Raikode.
During inspection at the Raikode bus stand, the checking officer identified a passenger travelling without a ticket.
Instead of only imposing a penalty, the officer allegedly demanded money from the conductor to avoid issuing a charge memo.
Passengers who witnessed the incident objected to the officer’s conduct.
They stopped the official’s vehicle near a nearby Police Station and confronted him.
The argument escalated, and the conductor along with some passengers allegedly assaulted the officer.
The situation led to brief tension in the Raikode bus stand area.
Passengers and the conductor later decided to lodge a complaint with the police over the officer’s alleged misconduct.
