RTC Strike: KK Says He Will Mediate Only If CM Directs Him

Hyderabad, Oct.15 (Maxim News): TRS MP K Keshava Rao today said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has not asked him to hold talks with striking RTC employees.

In an informal chat with media persons here, Rao said that he called for talks between the government and the RTC employees unions to end the strike as two workers ended their lives. Stating that the RTC Union leaders did not consult him, KK said that if KCR directs, he will mediate for the talks. Rao said that he is happy that the Union leaders have accepted his proposal.

Both the government and RTC Union leaders should hold talks in the larger interests of the people, he felt. It is a matter between the government TRS union leaders, and the TRS party has nothing to do with it, he said. “I asked the government to end the strike by holding talks before the issue turns complicated”, Rao said.

The senior leader also said that he is trying to call on the chief Minister to talk and apprise him on the issue. The strike has to be called off and workers should hold talks with the government. ‘I urged the government to rethink on the problems of the RTC employees and end the strike’. Rao said that he never said he would hold talks with the RTC Union leaders, but if the government wants, he was ready.

Stating that KCR did not give permission to him to hold talks, KK said that the employees unions should remain united. ‘I have no objection on the RTC merger into the government, but it may not be possible’, he felt. Being a socialist, he was with the employees and workers, and not with the government, he added.

When asked he said that he does not know the opinion of the government on the strike. (Maxim News)
