New Delhi, August 2: A Surat-based RTI activist has sought an investigation into the finances of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, raising questions about the funding of his higher education in the United States and recent financial support announced for the party’s legal aid initiative.
RTI Activist Raises Questions on Funding
According to the complaint, RTI activist Amit Tiwari has approached the Income Tax authorities, seeking an inquiry into the financial resources allegedly used for Dipke’s higher education in the United States.
The complaint reportedly refers to Dipke’s father, Bhagwan Rao, a retired employee in Maharashtra, and calls for an examination of the family’s financial records.
Tiwari has also sought a review of the ₹1 crore legal aid fund announced by senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal for legal assistance to students and organisers associated with the recent protests supported by the CJP.
He further requested the concerned authorities to examine whether Goods and Services Tax (GST), if applicable under law, applies to the legal aid fund.
The RTI activist has also urged the Election Commission of India to examine whether the Cockroach Janata Party is a registered political party and whether it is legally permitted to receive public donations if it is not registered.
The CJP had earlier announced the creation of an online legal aid fund through public contributions to support legal expenses for students and organisers involved in recent protests.
As of now, there has been no official response from Abhijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janata Party, Kapil Sibal or the concerned authorities regarding the allegations or the requests for investigation.
