New Delhi: The mother of the minor girl accused of using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked the Prime Minister for forgiving her daughter, describing his gesture as “jeevandan” (a new life). She has also appealed to him to ensure that the FIR registered against the girl is withdrawn.
The girl had issued a public apology to Prime Minister Modi on Friday in a viral video, folding her hands and expressing regret for her remarks. The apology came days after a police case was registered following widespread outrage over the abusive slogans.
Speaking to news agency PTI in an emotional interview, the girl’s mother said the Prime Minister’s decision to forgive her daughter had given the family hope.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown greatness by forgiving a daughter of this country who used such inappropriate words. I thank him with folded hands. Today is her new birth. The Prime Minister has given her the greatest gift, a new life,” she said.
Mother Requests PM Modi to Withdraw FIR
The mother urged the Prime Minister to help remove the criminal case against her daughter so she could move forward with her life peacefully.
She also claimed that the FIR contained incorrect personal details.
“We are fully aware of our mistake. I humbly request Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji to withdraw the FIR filed under the wrong name and age so that my daughter can live in peace. She is now under your guidance and supervision,” she said.
According to the police, Noida Police registered a Zero FIR last week based on a complaint over the abusive remarks directed at the Prime Minister. The FIR reportedly identified the accused as Ruchika Singh, aged 25. However, the girl’s mother maintained that both the name and age mentioned in the FIR are incorrect.
Appeal to Restrict Social Media for Minors
The mother also called for stricter regulation of social media access for children below 18 years of age, arguing that minors are vulnerable to influence and manipulation.”My humble request to PM Modi is that platforms like Instagram and Facebook should not be accessible to children under 18. They should focus on their studies instead of getting involved in protests. Young children can easily be influenced because they do not fully understand the world or how to respect elders,” she said.
PM Modi Called for Forgiveness, Not Punishment
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier appealed for compassion and restraint while responding to abusive slogans raised against him during student protests.
In an Instagram reel released on Friday, the Prime Minister said abusive language never resolves disagreements and urged society to guide young people instead of subjecting them to prolonged legal action.”These are misguided children. It is our responsibility to show them the right path. Punishment, court cases, and harassment will not improve the situation. I want to forgive them, and I request society to do the same,” he saidThe Prime Minister’s remarks have sparked widespread discussion on balancing accountability with rehabilitation, particularly when minors are involved in politically charged incidents. The case has also reignited debate over the influence of social media on young users and the need for greater digital responsibility among teenagers.
