ST reservation constable recruitment | Hyderabad, Oct 13: Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has demanded 75 per cent reservation for Scheduled Tribes in constable recruitment in the agency areas of Telangana. She made the demand in a post on X.
Kavitha said GO 109, issued by the united Andhra Pradesh government in 1988, and Gazette Notification 49 of 2018, issued after Telangana’s formation, require 75 per cent ST reservation for constable posts in agency areas. She alleged that the recruitment notification issued by the Police Recruitment Board in 2026 does not implement this quota. She said this could cost Adivasi and tribal youth their constable jobs.
ST reservation constable recruitment | Kavitha asks why ST quota was dropped from 2026 constable notification
Kavitha said the 75 per cent quota was applied in the constable recruitment notifications of 2015, 2018 and 2022, issued after Telangana’s formation. Leaving it out of the 2026 notification, she said, amounts to taking away the rights of Scheduled Tribes.
She claimed that Adivasi and tribal youth from Asifabad, Nagarkurnool, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Adilabad, Mancherial, Warangal, Khammam and Mahabubabad districts could lose more than 400 constable posts.
Kavitha urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, to intervene immediately and do complete justice to tribal youth. She asked the government to amend the 2026 notification and implement the 75 per cent ST reservation in agency areas.
