Hyderabad, April 24 (Maxim News): Saifabad Police traced and restored a bag containing gold ornaments and cash to a woman within one hour after she misplaced it in an auto rickshaw in the city.
The incident came to light on April 23 when Sujatha R. Hiremath, 43, a resident of Gulbarga, Karnataka, approached Saifabad Police Station and filed a complaint.
She told police that she was travelling from Narsingi to Birla Mandir in an Uber auto when she accidentally left behind her bag in the vehicle.
The bag contained 6.5 tolas of gold ornaments and ₹3,500 cash, according to police.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, a police team launched a search under the supervision of Saifabad Inspector A. Seethaiah.
Constables K. Vinay Kumar and Madan Mohan examined CCTV footage and tracked the auto within an hour.
Police identified the vehicle as TG11T1076 and contacted the driver, K. Nagesh, by 7.45 pm.
The driver, a resident of Chintal Basthi in Khairatabad, immediately responded and informed police that the bag was safe on the back seat of the auto.
He later reached Saifabad Police Station and handed over the bag with all valuables intact.
Police then restored the property to the complainant.
Inspector A. Seethaiah appreciated the honesty shown by the auto driver and rewarded him with a cash prize for his integrity.
The prompt action by police and the driver’s honesty drew praise from local residents.
