His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, confirmed the news on social media, writing:

“With hearts full of faith in Allah’s decree and destiny, and with profound sadness and sorrow, we mourn our beloved son Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah have mercy on him.”

Funeral prayers are scheduled to be held on Sunday after Asr prayer at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, the family announced.

A Two-Decade Medical Ordeal

In 2005, at the age of 15, Prince Al-Waleed suffered a severe brain hemorrhage after a car accident in London. He was flown back to Saudi Arabia and admitted to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he remained in a vegetative state for nearly 20 years.

Despite extensive international medical consultations, including with specialists from the United States and Spain, the prince never regained full consciousness. For two decades, he was dependent on a ventilator and life support, with occasional signs of reflex movement sparking hope among his family and supporters.

A Symbol of Hope and Devotion

Prince Khaled bin Talal, known for his strong stance on preserving life, refused to withdraw life support, even when advised otherwise. His unwavering presence at his son’s bedside over the years resonated deeply with many, turning the “Sleeping Prince” into a symbol of faith, love, and endurance.

Throughout the years, thousands across the Arab world followed updates on the prince’s condition, offering prayers and support to the family.

A Legacy That Touched Millions

Though Prince Al-Waleed lived most of his life in silence, his story became a powerful narrative of parental commitment and human resilience. His passing closes a chapter that had, for many, become a quiet inspiration over the years.

Messages of condolences have poured in from citizens, public figures, and members of the royal family, with many calling the prince’s journey a “testament of faith and fatherly devotion.”
