SBI ATM Theft in Adilabad: Thieves Use Gas Cutter, Flee with Cash
Adilabad/Hyderabad, July 26 (Maxim News): In a brazen act of theft, unidentified miscreants looted an SBI ATM in Ram Nagar, under Mavala police station limits in Adilabad district, during the early hours of Friday.
According to reports, the gang used a gas cutter to breach the ATM locker and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. In a calculated move to avoid detection, the culprits sprayed black paint over CCTV cameras, disabling video surveillance before executing the crime.
Police Suspect Organized Gang Involvement
Upon receiving the alert, police teams rushed to the scene and began collecting forensic evidence. Officials believe the crime was carried out by a well-organized gang with prior experience in such heists.
“We are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras and checkpoints to identify the suspects. The way the theft was carried out suggests it was pre-planned and professionally executed,” said an investigating officer.
Investigation Underway
A case has been registered, and a special team has been deployed to trace the suspects. Authorities are also coordinating with the State Bank of India (SBI) to determine the exact amount of cash looted from the machine.
This incident has raised concerns about ATM security measures in semi-urban and rural areas. Police have urged banks to enhance surveillance and improve security protocols around ATMs, especially during night hours.
