Hyderabad: Customers of State Bank of India may experience branch closures between May 23 and May 28, 2026, due to weekend holidays and Bakrid related holidays in several states.
According to banking schedules, SBI branches across the country will remain closed on May 23 and May 24 because of the fourth Saturday and Sunday holidays.
In addition, some states are expected to observe bank holidays on May 27 and May 28 for Bakrid celebrations, depending on local government notifications and moon sighting announcements.
Proposed Bank Strike Cancelled
Earlier, bank employee unions had proposed a strike during the same period, raising concerns among customers regarding banking operations.
However, the planned strike was later cancelled following discussions between bank unions and bank management authorities, bringing relief to customers and businesses.
Officials clarified that regular banking operations will continue on working days without disruption.
Online Banking Services To Function Normally
Despite branch closures during holidays, SBI customers can continue accessing digital banking services without interruption.
Services including UPI transactions, ATM withdrawals, internet banking, mobile banking, debit card usage, and the YONO SBI application will remain fully operational during the holiday period.
Customers can also use cash deposit machines, passbook kiosks, and online fund transfer services such as NEFT, RTGS, and IMPS.
Customers Advised To Complete Branch Work Early
Bank officials advised customers to complete important branch related transactions in advance to avoid inconvenience during the holiday period.
Services such as cheque clearances, account updates, loan related documentation, locker operations, and cash related branch transactions may be affected during non working days.
Officials also requested customers to verify local holiday schedules since bank holidays may vary from state to state depending on regional observances.
Banking Sector Continues Digital Push
SBI and other major banks have been encouraging customers to use digital banking platforms to reduce dependency on physical branch visits.
With increasing adoption of mobile banking and UPI based transactions, most routine financial services are now available online round the clock.
The bank reiterated that customer support services through helplines and digital platforms will continue functioning during the holiday period.
