Security Convergence Meeting of Police and Military held

Hyderabad, 7 March (Maxim News): To get enlightened to each other’s concerns, capabilities, limitations and synergise efforts for creating conducive environment to bring about positive results in providing security to civil public and defence establishments, a Security Convergence Meeting was held between police and military officials at Secunderabad Military station today.

M. Mahender Reddy, Director General of Police, Government of Telangana and Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub-Area chaired the meeting. Senior Heads of all military and Air Force establishments in the station, Senior police officials including T Krishna Prasad, DGP & Chairman, Road Safety Authority, Jitender, Additional DGP (Law and Order), Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, V Naveen Chand, IGP, Intelligence, Sandeep Shandilya, Additional DGP, Railways & Road Safety(SCR), K Srinivas Reddy, IGP, Grey Hounds & OCTOPUS, Vijay Kumar, Joint Director SIB & representatives of NSG, Grey Hounds and Octopus participated in the meeting.

Welcoming the officials Major General Rao highlighted the present security environment and recent developments in the country with increased terrorist activities as well as involvement of anti-social elements. He expressed concern as Secunderabad Cantt, Golconda, Mehdipatnam and Bowenpally are open and porous Cantts with large civil population around them. Major roads and highways close to the Cantt area have further compound the problem of security. Mahender Reddy, DGP, in his opening remarks felt that such convergence activities between Armed Forces and Police are very important to develop rapport between officials and get prepared to face any contingencies effectively.

The meeting discussed several external and internal security issues, assistance from RPF & GRP for securing rail & road routes and also reviewed the preparedness for NSG, Octopus and Greyhounds. (Maxim News)
