- Hyderabad Traffic Police impose night restrictions on flyovers
Hyderabad, March 16: The Hyderabad Traffic Police announced traffic restrictions in view of Shab-e-Qadr, also known as Jaagne Ki Raath. The restrictions will be enforced during the intervening night of March 16 and 17, 2026. Authorities said the measures aim to ensure better road safety and prevent any untoward incidents or road accidents.
As part of the Shab-e-Qadar traffic restrictions, officials will not allow two wheelers on several major flyovers in the city. The ban will take effect after 10.00 p.m. on the specified night. The restrictions apply to selected flyovers that connect key routes in Hyderabad.
Shab-e-Qadar traffic restrictions apply to major Hyderabad flyovers
The Hyderabad Traffic Police said two wheelers will not be permitted on the Dr. Manmohan Singh Express Flyover, which connects Zoo Park to Aramghar. Similarly, the restriction will apply to the Bahadurpura Flyover between Devi Bagh and Zoo Park Gate No. 2.
Meanwhile, authorities will also enforce the restriction on the Chandrayangutta flyover. This route includes the entrance from Nayara Petrol Pump at Hashamabad to Phoolbagh DLRL. In addition, the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Flyover from Pislabanda to Laxma Reddy Garden Function Hall will remain closed for two wheelers after 10.00 p.m.
Officials said the Shab-e-Qadar traffic restrictions are intended to manage traffic movement and reduce the risk of accidents. Since the night is observed with special prayers and increased public movement, authorities plan to regulate vehicle access on busy flyovers.
Traffic Police urge commuters to follow flyover restrictions
The traffic police requested the general public and commuters to take note of the restrictions. They also asked citizens to cooperate with the traffic police to ensure smooth movement on the roads during the observance.
Officials stated that these steps are precautionary measures aimed at improving safety during the Shab-e-Qadar night. Therefore, motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance and avoid restricted flyovers if they are travelling on two wheelers after 10.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the traffic police also shared contact details for assistance. In case of inconvenience while commuting, commuters can contact the traffic helpline at 9010203626. Authorities said the helpline will assist citizens facing difficulties due to the restrictions.
Through these measures, the Hyderabad Traffic Police aims to maintain safe road conditions during the Shab-e-Qadar observance and prevent any road accidents during the late night hours.
