Shabbir Ali Targets BJP Over Inaction On Terror, Urges Congress To Unite Ahead Of Polls
Kamareddy, May 29: Senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir criticised the BJP-led Central government for its weak response to national security threats and called on Congress workers to unite for the upcoming elections.
He was speaking at an extended constituency-level Congress meeting on Thursday in Kamareddy, held under the leadership of District Congress Committee president Kailas Srinivasa Rao, following directions from the Pradesh Congress Committee.
The meeting was attended by the district in-charge Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Congress observers Satyanarayana Goud and Venugopal Yadav, as well as leaders from across the constituency.
Shabbir Ali began by lauding the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government for conducting a caste census. “Telangana has shown the country a new path by conducting a caste census. It is a bold move that addresses the realities of our society,” he said.
Slamming the BJP, Shabbir Ali said, “The BJP has done nothing meaningful for Telangana. It is trying to gain power by provoking people, not by serving them.” Referring to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, he questioned the Modi government’s silence. “Innocent people were killed, yet the Centre took no decisive action. Even after the Congress offered full support to the government after it launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ to act strongly against Pakistan-backed terror, there was no response,” he said.
He also alleged that international influence shaped India’s weak response. “US President Donald Trump made a phone call, and the Modi government retreated. This was a blow to the morale of our soldiers,” he remarked.

In contrast, Shabbir Ali highlighted the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. “In 1971, Indira Gandhi warned foreign nations not to interfere, went to war, and captured 95,000 Pakistani soldiers. That is the Congress legacy. We must take these stories to the people,” he said.
Turning to internal matters, Shabbir Ali urged Congress leaders and workers to stay united. “We must work together for the development of Kamareddy. Differences among ourselves only weaken us. Let us put aside petty quarrels and focus on strengthening the party,” he said. “There should be no distinction between old and new members—our goal must be to win together.”
Minister Jupally Krishna Rao echoed these sentiments, criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for damaging India’s image internationally. “Under Operation Sindoor, we should have punished those who dishonoured our women. But the government stopped midway, under pressure from America. They failed to teach a lesson to those who wiped off our daughters’ sindoor,” he said, invoking deep cultural symbolism.
He stressed the importance of discipline and unity within Congress. “If anyone causes disputes within the party, they will be suspended. Only those with discipline and commitment will be given posts,” he warned.
Krishna Rao announced that the Congress government would provide 3,500 houses to Kamareddy under the housing scheme, and plans were in place to provide 10,000 houses per constituency. “We will give homes to every poor family, regardless of party affiliation. Funds will be released based on construction progress,” he said.
He also highlighted the ongoing ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhaan Abhiyaan’, stating that it was being taken to every village and must reach the masses more forcefully. “This is a movement for constitutional values and social justice,” he added.
Krishna Rao reminded party workers of their responsibility. “Without the party, without the kanduva, no one would have had an opportunity. Strengthening the Congress must be our priority. Let’s stand united, forget who is senior or junior, and take the party forward,” he said.
He assured that those who had worked sincerely at the grassroots level would be recognised. “We will identify those who held the flag when times were hard and give them positions. This is their time,” he said.
The meeting saw participation from district and block-level Congress leaders, presidents of affiliated wings, mandal and village unit heads, former ZPTCs and MPTCs, sarpanches, and a large number of party workers. (Maxim News)
