The operation aims to eliminate Maoist groups before the 31st of this month. Thousands of security personnel are taking part in this mission.

Since the launch of Operation Kagar, security forces have killed around 400 Maoists. Meanwhile, more than 3,000 Maoists have surrendered before the police. Some surrendered with weapons. Others joined normal life without arms. Therefore, officials say the Maoist network has weakened in many areas.

Several top Maoist leaders also died during these operations. These include Maoist party general secretary Basavaraju and other central committee members. At the same time, some Politburo and central committee leaders surrendered. These developments pushed the government to increase pressure on the remaining groups.

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma recently made a key statement. He said Maoists were active in 30 areas earlier. However, security forces have cleared 26 areas so far. Only four area committees remain active now.

He also said officials will try to make them surrender. Otherwise, forces will act against them before the month ends. Therefore, Operation Four is now in full swing.

Bastar: Surrender efforts fail in key forest areas

However, police have not succeeded in convincing these four groups to surrender. Maoists from nearby areas already surrendered in Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Yet, these groups continue to move in small teams.

Sources say Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member Paparao is among them. He is believed to lead the remaining area committees. Maoist activity continues in areas like Jagurugonda, Pamedu, and the Indravati National Park region.

Security forces increase combing operations

Security forces started Operation Four following clear instructions from the Union Home Ministry. Officials believe they gave enough time for surrender. Now, they plan strong action if Maoists refuse.

CRPF CoBRA units, commando forces, and DRG teams are part of the operation. Meanwhile, forces are conducting searches around Pamedu, Jagurugonda, National Park areas, and Mad border regions. They are also checking old Maoist bases.

Security teams are also using informers to track Maoist movements. Therefore, officials say an encounter could happen at any time. The situation remains tense as the operation continues.
