A Shivampet attempted exploitation case came to light after villagers in Sikindlapur caught a youth who allegedly tried to sexually exploit a 10 year old girl. The incident took place on Tuesday night in Shivampet mandal. Later, villagers handed the accused over to the police after rescuing the child.

According to available information, artists had organised a circus in the village that evening. Many residents gathered at the venue to watch the show. Both the victim and the accused were present at the programme. However, the incident occurred later when the girl was returning home alone.

Police said the accused, identified as Cheguri Anjaneyulu (20), allegedly tried to exploit the girl during that time. The girl reportedly raised cries for help. Meanwhile, villagers nearby heard her cries and rushed to the spot. They quickly rescued the child and caught hold of the accused.

The development soon created tension in the village. Villagers then thrashed the accused before handing him over to the Shivampet police. Police later took him into custody for further action under the law.

Authorities registered a case against the accused under provisions of the POCSO Act and other relevant sections. Officials said the law provides strict punishment in cases involving crimes against children. Meanwhile, the police began the legal process after receiving the complaint.

The victim was later sent for a medical examination to the government hospital in Narsapur. Officials said medical procedures are part of the investigation in such cases. Therefore, authorities ensured the girl received immediate medical attention after the incident.
