Addressing a Zoom meeting with ministers, MLAs, MPs and party leaders on Sunday, the Chief Minister said the SIR drive should be treated as the party’s top priority and instructed leaders not to visit Gandhi Bhavan during the campaign period.
Revanth Reddy Intensifies SIR Campaign Across Telangana
Revanth Reddy told party leaders to work in election mode over the next two weeks and focus entirely on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise being carried out across Telangana.
He instructed leaders not to remain in Hyderabad or lobby for party or corporation posts, but instead spend time in their assigned constituencies to ensure the success of the SIR campaign.
The Chief Minister noted that the deadline for the SIR exercise has been extended until August 3, providing an opportunity for the party to strengthen voter outreach and verification efforts.
According to Revanth Reddy, the Congress has already organised 489 SIR meetings across all 119 Assembly constituencies. He asked leaders to improve performance, particularly in constituencies where the campaign has been weak.
From Monday, 10 in-charge ministers will begin district-level review meetings to monitor the progress of the SIR exercise. The Chief Minister also directed Members of Parliament to continue supervising the campaign despite the ongoing Parliament session.
He warned that strict action would be taken against MPs, ministers, MLAs and constituency in-charges who fail to discharge their responsibilities during the SIR campaign.
Revanth Reddy instructed party functionaries to rely on reports submitted by Booth Level Agents (BLAs) instead of depending solely on Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He said BLAs working for the Congress should be utilised effectively to strengthen the party’s grassroots network.
The Gandhi Bhavan team has been asked to continuously review reports submitted by both BLAs and BLOs to monitor the progress of the voter verification exercise.
The Chief Minister announced that another comprehensive review of the SIR campaign will be conducted on July 30, with Assembly constituency-wise performance reports to be examined.
He also said that 100 best-performing BLAs would be given an opportunity to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in recognition of their work.
During the review meeting, party leaders submitted reports on the SIR campaign. Revanth Reddy said the exercise was progressing well in 52 constituencies, performing moderately in 42 constituencies, while 21 constituencies were found to be lagging behind.
He expressed concern over poor performance in Alampur, Armur, Asifabad and Bahadurpura constituencies and warned the in-charge leaders that continued negligence would invite disciplinary action.
Revanth Reddy reiterated that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise is crucial for ensuring an accurate electoral roll and directed every Congress leader to remain actively engaged at the grassroots level until the process concludes on August 3.
