Hyderabad: An SI’s wireless manpack was reportedly found at the house of three brothers accused of involvement in a ganja trafficking network during an EAGLE Force raid in Balanagar.
The accused, identified as Bolla Durgaprasad, Bolla Kamalakar and Bolla Kiran Kumar, are brothers from Andhra Pradesh who were living in Balanagar. Police sources said they allegedly posed as suppliers of catering workers while maintaining contacts with police personnel.
According to sources, the brothers had developed links with an SI and several constables attached to a police unit dealing with theft cases. They had reportedly provided information about suspected thieves in some cases, helping police solve cases.
The brothers allegedly continued their interactions with the personnel even after becoming involved in ganja trafficking.
Police Manpack Found During EAGLE Raid
Sources said the brothers had provided a room near their residence where some police personnel reportedly held private gatherings.
During the EAGLE Force raid, an SI’s wireless manpack was found at the house. Sources said the SI had apparently left the equipment behind, following which the accused allegedly concealed it.
The raid also reportedly led to another unusual discovery. A constable was allegedly found at the residence consuming toddy while the operation was underway.
According to sources, the constable had brought toddy from his native place and organised a gathering at the house.
The EAGLE raid was reportedly conducted following information about the brothers’ alleged involvement in ganja trafficking.
Two cases have been registered with Balanagar police. An internal inquiry is also underway to establish how the wireless equipment went missing and why police personnel were present at the accused persons’ residence.
Officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged links between the police personnel and the accused.
