Smokers Frown Over Increased Cigarette Prices
Hyderabad, Feb 1 (Maxim News): The moment it was clear that the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman announced in the Budget 2023-24, a 16 percent rise in National Calamity Contingent Duty (NCCD) on cigarettes, which will make smoking more expensive, the smokers in social media has started jokes and memes about Cigarettes becoming expensive after Budget.
The Finance Minister’s budget announcements on reduction in the Income Tax slab got linked with the expensive cigarettes and have become the limelight with another announcement – a hike in tax on cigarettes.
it may be recalled that there had been no increase in taxes for cigarettes in the last two years and the smokers were hoping that it would continue, to their surprise and their hopes were dashed but social media was inundated with jokes and memes. (Maxim News)
