Some Platforms Of Secunderabad Railway Station Temporarily Closed: 120 Trains Diverted For 100 Days

Hyderabad, April 15 (Maxim News): Some platforms at Secunderabad railway station have been temporarily closed, Six platforms have been closed as part of the modernization. Many trains going to Secunderabad have been diverted to Cherlapalli, Kacheguda and Nampally. Railway officials have announced that six platforms will be closed for 100 days. 120 trains have been diverted to complete the work.

The Railway Department is modernizing the Secunderabad Railway Station at a cost of Rs. 720 crore. South Central Railway officials said that world-class facilities will be made available at the railway station. Officials said that the station will be developed like an international airport without traffic jams in the vicinity of the station so that the increasing number of passengers does not face any problems.

Shops, food courts, rest areas, waiting halls, and modern ticket counters are being built inside the station. The station will be built as G-3 floors. It is being built as an iconic structure. Two travelers and two walkways are being built on both sides of the station. Lifts, 32 escalators, and two wide foot over bridges are also being made available.

A skyway is being built on the east side of the station to connect it to the metro station. Solar plants with a capacity of 5 KV are being constructed. CCTV cameras are being installed covering the entire station along with an advanced security system. Rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, EV charging stations, and sewage treatment plants are being constructed.

The Secunderabad Railway Station building has become a part of history. It is known that this station building, which was a beacon of light during the Nizam’s reign under the name of Hyderabad State Railways, has already been razed to the ground as part of modernization. Every day, about 3 lakh people travel from the station to various parts of the country. Currently, the railway station is 11,500 sq.m. in area, while modernization works are underway to expand it to 37.500 sq.m. in area. (Maxim News)
