Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stormed into the IPL 2026 playoffs after defeating Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in a crucial league match.
With the victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad became the second team after Gujarat Titans to secure a playoff berth in the tournament.
Chasing a target of 181 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad reached 181 for five in 19 overs riding on a brilliant knock from Ishan Kishan, who scored 70 runs off 47 balls.
Kishan played a match winning innings with seven boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 148.94. He anchored the chase after SRH lost an early wicket and maintained control throughout the innings.
SRH suffered an early setback when opener Travis Head was dismissed for six runs in the third over by Mukesh Choudhary.
Another opener, Abhishek Sharma, scored 26 runs off 21 balls before being dismissed by Akeal Hosein in the eighth over.

Kishan And Klaasen Turn Match In SRH Favour
The turning point of the chase came through a dominant partnership between Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen. Klaasen played an aggressive innings of 47 runs from 26 deliveries before getting out in the 15th over.
Their partnership kept the required run rate under control and shifted momentum firmly towards Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings posted 180 for seven in 20 overs after useful contributions from the middle order.
Dewald Brevis scored 44 runs off 27 balls and shared an important partnership with Shivam Dube, who made 26 runs from 23 deliveries.
Ehsan Malinga provided a crucial breakthrough in the 18th over by dismissing Brevis. Sakib Hussain later removed Shivam Dube in the 19th over to restrict Chennai’s scoring in the death overs.
Praful Hinge also struck in the final over by dismissing Prashant Veer for 11 runs.
The victory strengthened Sunrisers Hyderabad’s campaign as the team now heads into the playoffs with strong momentum.
