Hyderabad, May 23: Telangana Minister D. Sridhar Babu criticised BRS leader T. Harish Rao for his comments on cancelling the proposed Future City project if the BRS returns to power.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, Sridhar Babu termed Harish Rao’s remarks “irresponsible” and questioned whether the opposition party wanted development in the state or not.
The minister said Future City was aimed at attracting investments and generating employment opportunities in Telangana.
Sridhar Babu Defends Future City Project
Sridhar Babu stated that investors could shift to neighbouring states if Telangana failed to create advanced infrastructure and development projects.
He clarified that no polluting industries would be allowed in the proposed Future City project and questioned the logic behind calls to cancel it.
The minister accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi of attempting to obstruct development initiatives taken up by the Congress government.
He alleged that BRS leaders have focused only on criticism since the formation of the present government and were engaging in what he described as “blackmail politics”.
Sridhar Babu also claimed that the opposition party was creating hurdles in the expansion of Metro Rail services in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The remarks came amid an ongoing political debate between the Congress government and BRS over the Future City and Pharma City projects in Telangana.
