Delhi, May 23: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday during his four day visit to India.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi and lasted for more than an hour.
According to US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore, the leaders discussed cooperation in security, trade and key technology sectors between India and the United States.
He said both sides also held discussions on strengthening cooperation for a free and open Indo Pacific region.
Rubio Participates In Key Diplomatic Meetings
Marco Rubio arrived in Kolkata earlier on Saturday directly from the United States. During his visit, he also paid tribute to Mother Teresa at the Missionaries of Charity along with his wife Jeanette Rubio.
Later, Rubio shared a message on social media platform X praising Mother Teresa’s humanitarian service and contributions.
As part of his India visit, Rubio will participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi on May 26.
The Quad alliance includes India, the United States, Australia and Japan and focuses on cooperation in the Indo Pacific region.
Officials said discussions during the Quad meeting are expected to cover regional security, trade, strategic cooperation and emerging global challenges.
