Students Protest Rally at OU over Job Notification

Hyderabad, Feb 22: Tension prevailed in the Osmania University as students took out rally in support of a protest call given by the Telangana Join Action Committee demanding job notifications, here on Wednesday.

About 500 students who rallied from University College of Arts and Social Sciences to NCC gate in batches demanded the State government to release job notifications. They also demanded the government to release JAC Chairman Prof. M Kodandaram who was arrested from his house in Tarnaka.

An attempt by students to barge out of the campus was foiled by the police at the NCC Gate. During the process, nearly 60 students were arrested and were taken to different police stations.

The police patrolled every nook and corner and ensured that campus remains peaceful. All the entry points into the campus were closed and only students and faculty with identity cards were allowed into the campus.

“We want the government to issue notifications for one lakh jobs as promised by it. The Telangana Statehood movement was all about jobs. Now, this is not being fulfilled by the government,” said K Anjaneyulu, Chairman, Joint Action Committee, OU.
