“Sunday Is Waqf Day”: AIMPLB To Lead United Protest In Hyderabad On June 1
Hyderabad, May 30 (Maxim News): The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), along with key members of Telangana’s Muslim organizations, has announced a unified protest on Sunday, June 1, at Dharna Chowk, Lower Tank Bund, Hyderabad. The event will be held from 2 PM to 5 PM, under the central slogan: “Sunday is Waqf Day.”
This announcement was made during a consultative meeting held recently, which included prominent scholars, board members, and representatives of various Muslim groups across Telangana. The meeting aimed to clarify doubts regarding different protest dates and to consolidate efforts for a single, united demonstration under the AIMPLB’s leadership.
Among the distinguished attendees were Maulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Chief of Jamia Nizamia and a respected Islamic scholar; Maulana Dr. Mateen Qadri, Member of AIMPLB; Ziauddin Nayyar, Senior Member of the Personal Law Board; Dr. Mohammad Mushtaq Ali, Member of AIMPLB; Maulana Hyder Nisar Agha and Maulana Masood Mushtahidi, both board members; and Ms. Hafza Akhtar, representing women’s voices in the board.

Other key organization leaders present included Mufti Mahmood Zubair from Jamiat Ulema; Dr. Ali Hussaini from Qadri Chaman; Moulana Syed Ahmed Ul Hussaini Sayeed Ul Qadri, President Qadria International; Muneeruddin Mukhtar, representing United Muslim Forum, and Mufti Rafiuddin Rashadi, head of several institutions for the protection of Shariat and Khatm-e-Nabuwwat.
Representatives from various sects and regions, including youth members from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Tablighi Jamaat’s Raafatullah Shaheed, also attended the session, confirming their support for this protest.
Responding to public confusion, the organizers made it clear that the official protest endorsed by AIMPLB is on Sunday, June 1, not on Saturday or any other date. The protest’s central demand is to recognize Sunday as Waqf Day, highlighting the importance of safeguarding Waqf properties and Muslim heritage.
This peaceful demonstration will not only include Muslim scholars, intellectuals, and activists but also representatives from secular parties and other faiths, including Christian, Hindu, and Sikh community leaders, showcasing solidarity across religions. A strong participation of women and youth is also expected.
The AIMPLB called upon all members of the community — men, women, elders, and youth — to actively participate in the protest and stand united for the cause of protecting Waqf institutions and rights. (Maxim News)
