Supply 29 Lakh MT stocks first to decide Yasangi yield, Piyush slams KK over Paddy

Hyderabad, Dec.3 (Maxim News): TRS MP Keshava Rao and Union Food, Civil supplies and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal today involved in an argument over paddy and rice procurement from Telangana state. When Keshava Rao insisted in the Raja Sabha on paddy and rice issues, Goyal slammed the state government for exerting pressure.
The Minister asked the state to first supply 29 lakh metric tons of paddy or grains as agreed out of about 90 lakh metric tons and the Centre will decide about Yasangi yield. Piyush lost his cool when Keshava Rao insisted for clarity of stocks to be procured from the state.

Demanding the Centre to procure paddy and give clarity on stocks to be cleared in Yasangi season, the TRS MPs today staged protests in the Parliament. In both the houses the TRS MPs stormed the well of the podium and showed placards about their demands. KK demanded an explanation from the Centre whether it will procure paddy and rice as promised. It is the responsibility of the Centre to get stocks of paddy and rice from the state which sows only boiled rice in Yasangi. He insisted for an answer from the Minister and Goyal expressed displeasure.

The Union Minister slammed the TRS Government for politicizing the issue on the same. Though we take all steps the Telangana Government is repeatedly pressing over paddy and rice, he lamented. Keshava Rao asked the Centre to fix some targets of stocks of grains to be procured from the state from Yasangi. To this, Goyal said that the state has yet to supply 29 lakh metric tons it supposed to. First Telangana should supply that stocks and the Centre will decide on future crops in Yasangi (Rabi) season, Piyush Goyal said.

There was an argument among the TRS leader and the Minister on the same issue. Piyush Goyal lost his cool for insistence by Keshava Rao. He further said that the state had written a letter that it will not ask further to procure more stocks. As the MPs continued to protest and asked the Centre to give clarity Piyush Goyal explained about the steps being taken to procure paddy stocks from Telangana. (Maxim News)’
