Swift action by Amberpet police nab woman abductors

Hyderabad: The Amberpet police have nabbed a notorious gang of criminals involved in kidnapping a woman and rescued the victim within 24-hours and seized vehicles and cell phones used in the crime.

Police said the accused Medipalli Srinivas, 57, car driver-cum-watchman at Sai Charan Residency, Vikas Nagar, Dilsukh Nagar, Chilkalpalle Sairam alias Sai, 22, student of Sharada Nagar, Ramanthapur, Avileni Raji Reddy, 27, working with Siri Homes, Dilsukh Nagar were arrested while Medipalli Satyanarayana, Venkat and Sai Swaroopa alias Karre Sai are absconding.

Police said principal accused M. Srinivas is a native of Krishna District, accompanied by his accomplices came to Hyderabad from their respective native places for eking out livelihood. In 2010, M. Srinivas gave a hand loan of Rs 4 lakh to one K. Srinivas Rao of D.D. Colony, Amberpet. Later when he failed to repay the loan amount, the main accused conspired with his accomplices to abduct his family members to get back the amount. As pre-planned, the accused on Monday night went to the house of the complainant and forcibly abducted Nagamani, wife of Srinivas Rao and took her to Nizamabad.

On receipt of a complaint on Tuesday from the victim’s son, the Amberper police visited the scene of offence and with the help of CCTV footage, they tracked the gangsters and intercepted them near Tarnaka while they were heading towards Nizamabad. The accused confessed to have abducted the victim when her husband was away. While A-1 to A-3 have been arrested and being produced in the Court for judicial remand, others were absconding.
