Tamil Nadu: Bill Passed for Medical Admissions Without NEET

To guarantee social fairness, the Tamil Nadu Assembly approved a bill on Monday that will do away with the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) and instead allow admission to medical institutions based on Class XII marks.

The Bill allows for admission to MBBS/BDS programmes based on class 12 grades. The AIADMK backed the Bill, while the BJP staged a walkout.

Earlier, Stalin presented the Bill and urged to everyone to support it in the name of social justice, implying that the current effort would be completely different from what had been done before under the AIADMK government.

Stalin hailed the major opposition party’s support for his government’s NEET initiative.
