TECTIP Bats for SC, ST, Minority Artisan Uplift

  • TECTIP Urges Telangana to Boost Traditional Industries Through Trade Fairs and Global Market Access

Hyderabad, July 21: The Telangana Chamber of Trade and Industries Promotion (TECTIP) has called for a strategic push to empower traditional artisans, entrepreneurs, and marginalized communities through enhanced marketing opportunities, both in India and abroad.

Speaking to INDToday.com here on Monday, TECTIP Director Mr. Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badesha Quadri emphasized the organization’s mission of emancipation, empowerment, and economic inclusion. He noted that TECTIP has positioned itself as a platform for resolving regulatory issues, acting as a search engine for emerging entrepreneurs and a growth engine for established businesses across various sectors.

Highlighting Telangana’s rich heritage, Mr. Quadri said, “Our state has immense untapped potential in traditional arts and crafts such as Cheriyal paintings, Nirmal paintings, Batik art, Bidri crafts, Pemberthi brassware, and Nirmal toys. Likewise, handloom products like Pochampally Ikkat, Siddipet and Gadwal handlooms, Narayanpet weaves, and Banjara embroidery are globally admired.”

He pointed out that these products are predominantly crafted by artisans from SC, ST, BC, and Minority communities, whose skills have been passed down through generations. However, lack of market exposure and limited access to global buyers have hindered their growth and economic prosperity.

Mr. Quadri urged the government to create more domestic and international marketing opportunities, particularly through trade fairs, exhibitions, and business expos, to showcase Telangana’s traditional craftsmanship. “These events act as powerful tools for business development, product exposure, and cross-border collaborations,” he said.

He added that trade fairs not only facilitate B2B and B2C interactions but also pave the way for technology transfer and joint ventures, providing a dynamic environment for entrepreneurs to turn challenges into opportunities.

Mr. Quadri concluded that by promoting local artisans and products through strategic trade platforms, Telangana can significantly boost its rural economy, enhance artisan livelihoods, and contribute to inclusive economic growth.
