Teenager Drowns In Alwal Swimming Pool

Hyderabad: A teenager drowned allegedly during a swimming practice session at a private pool in Alwal on Sunday. The incident took place at a pool located in Old Alwal’s Suryanagar area, raising concern among local residents and students.

The victim, Vaishnavi (18) from Jagadevpur in Siddipet district, was a student at Loyola Academy. Alongside her studies, she had enrolled in the NCC Navy Wing. Friends described her as an active and disciplined student. She was staying with friends at a private hostel in Saibaba Nagar.

According to information available, Vaishnavi had been attending regular swimming practice at the private pool. She and her friends practiced daily between 4 pm and 5 pm. However, on Sunday evening, being a holiday, she reportedly reached the pool around 4.30 pm along with her friends Gautami and Praneetha.

As the session time ended, most swimmers came out of the pool. However, Vaishnavi and another friend, Priyanka, remained inside. It was then, suddenly, Vaishnavi reportedly slipped underwater and drowned. The incident occurred shortly after others had exited the pool.

Meanwhile, Priyanka immediately alerted the coach and other staff members. The management pulled her out of the pool. However, she was unresponsive and had died by then. The sudden death during a routine swimming practice has left her friends and fellow students in shock.

Later, the police began an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death. Officials are examining the circumstances under which the drowning occurred. Further details are awaited as the inquiry continues.

The tragic drowning in Alwal has once again drawn attention to safety measures at private swimming pools. Authorities are expected to gather more facts as part of the ongoing investigation.
