Hyderabad, August 25: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will receive more rain over the next three days as a low pressure system affects weather conditions across the region.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain in several areas. Thunderstorms and lightning may also occur in some places.
According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, the low pressure area now lies over Jharkhand and nearby regions. The system had earlier formed over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and north Odisha.
As of 8.30 am on August 25, the system remained centred over Jharkhand and surrounding areas. An associated upper air circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
The system is likely to move west northwest during the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the monsoon trough continues to influence weather conditions across central and eastern parts of the country.
Telangana rain forecast includes thunderstorms and strong winds
The weather department has forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places across Telangana on Tuesday and Wednesday. Similar conditions may continue at isolated locations on Thursday.
Strong lower level winds may reach 30 to 40 kmph at some places on Tuesday and Wednesday. The department has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and rain in some districts on Tuesday.
People should remain cautious during thunderstorms. They should also avoid exposed areas when lightning activity occurs.
In Andhra Pradesh, the Amaravati Meteorological Centre has forecast rain across North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam may receive light to moderate rain or thunderstorms at some places on Tuesday and Wednesday. Lightning may occur at isolated locations.
Strong winds may reach 40 to 50 kmph in parts of the region. Similar conditions may continue on Thursday at isolated places.
South Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive light to moderate rain or thunderstorms at several places on Tuesday. Rain may continue at isolated locations on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rayalaseema may also receive light to moderate rain or thunderstorms on Tuesday. Similar conditions may occur at isolated places on Wednesday and Thursday.
The weather department has forecast strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph across parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Lightning may also occur at isolated locations.
Overall, the low pressure system is expected to keep weather conditions unsettled across both Telugu states. Residents should follow official weather alerts and take precautions during thunderstorms and strong winds.
