Telangana Civil Supplies Deploys Elite Teams Against Defaulting Millers

Hyderabad, August 21: The Telangana Civil Supplies Department has deployed 28 police personnel from Greyhounds and OCTOPUS units to target defaulting rice millers.

The personnel have joined the department’s Enforcement and Vigilance wing. They will conduct inspections and take action against millers who violate government rules.

Commissioner of Civil Supplies M. Stephen Raveendra, IPS, briefed the newly attached personnel at Civil Supplies Bhavan on Friday.

Elite Teams To Conduct Surprise Inspections

The personnel completed a three day training programme at the Telangana Police Academy.

The training covered legal provisions related to essential commodities and Civil Supplies Department procedures.

The teams will now conduct surprise inspections across Telangana. They will focus on millers accused of defaults and other violations.

Raveendra said the department would follow a zero tolerance policy against misappropriation and operational violations.

Authorities will register criminal cases and initiate legal action against millers found violating government regulations.

The Commissioner also highlighted the state’s record paddy procurement during KMS 2025 to 2026.

The state procured 154 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the season. The government spent around Rs 40,000 crore on the procurement programme.
