Hyderabad, August 21: The Rein Bazar police recovered 11 lost or missing mobile phones worth approximately Rs 1 lakh using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal.
The phones were traced using their respective IMEI numbers after owners reported the devices missing.
CEIR Portal Helps Rein Bazar Police Trace Missing Phones
The recovery was carried out on August 21, 2026, by a team led by CH Nethaji, Inspector of Police and SHO, Rein Bazar Police Station, along with Detective Inspector Md. Nayeemuddin, DSI P. Ramkishan and the Crime Team.
Police used the CEIR portal to track the mobile devices based on their registered IMEI numbers.
Following complaints from the respective owners, the police team conducted efforts to identify and trace the missing phones.
The recovered devices were subsequently handed over to their rightful owners in the presence of police officials.
The CEIR system enables law enforcement agencies and citizens to help track lost or stolen mobile phones using their unique equipment identification numbers.
The Rein Bazar police said the recovery highlights the effective use of technology in assisting citizens and tracing missing mobile devices.
The efforts of the police team were appreciated for their role in recovering the phones and ensuring their safe return to the owners.
