Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Urges Maoists To Surrender

Hyderabad, Oct 21: Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday appealed to Maoists to surrender and join the national mainstream. He urged them to abandon violence and contribute to the development of the country and the reconstruction of Telangana.

Speaking at the Police Flag Day Parade in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister paid tributes to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. “I am appealing to all Maoist leaders and activists who are active to surrender before the police and join mainstream life. The CM asserted that Maoists should join as partners in the nation-building and the country’s development by shedding the Naxal ideology,” he said.

Revanth Reddy commended the Telangana Police for their exemplary service in tackling the Naxal problem. He noted that the state had faced serious Maoist and terrorist threats in the past, but the relentless efforts of the police helped in reducing such activities significantly. He praised the force for demonstrating “indomitable spirit” in achieving peace and security across Telangana.

He highlighted that Telangana Police ranked first in India in the 2025 India Justice Report for adopting advanced technology and implementing unique policing strategies. The Chief Minister said the police department had been proactive in preventing terrorism, extremism, white-collar crimes, drugs, cybercrimes, and other anti-social activities.

Revanth Reddy said cybercrimes, digital frauds, morphing content, drugs, and human trafficking were emerging as major challenges. He appreciated the establishment of a dedicated ‘Cyber Security Bureau’ headed by a DGP-level officer, describing it as one of the best in the country. The CM also lauded the department for successfully carrying out inter-state operations to counter cybercriminals.

He further mentioned the government’s creation of the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), a special wing formed to eradicate drug trafficking. The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s determination to make Telangana a drug-free state and said that the Police Department had been given complete freedom and authority to pursue this goal.

Noting the sacrifices made by police personnel, Revanth Reddy said that 191 officers across the country and six in Telangana lost their lives while serving this year. He paid tribute to Greyhounds commandos T. Sandeep, V. Sridhar, and N. Pawan Kalyan, Assistant Commandant Banothu Jawaharlal, and constables B. Saidu and Empalli Pramod Kumar, who died in the line of duty.

The Chief Minister announced that Constable Pramod Kumar’s family would receive an ex gratia of Rs 1 crore, his last salary till retirement, a government job for one family member, and a 300-yard house site. Additional assistance of Rs 16 lakh from the Police Security Welfare Fund and Rs 8 lakh from the Police Welfare Fund will also be provided.
