Hyderabad, June 25: The Telangana government on Wednesday signed agreements with 14 banks to provide free accident insurance to regular, contract, outsourcing and other temporary employees, along with pensioners.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy signed the MoUs at Ravindra Bharathi and formally launched the accident insurance scheme for employees and pensioners. He said the government had taken the step on its own to support employees and their families.
The Chief Minister said the scheme would continue to benefit employees even after retirement. He added that accident insurance coverage would range from Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore, while air accident insurance offered by banks would range between Rs 2 crore and Rs 3 crore.

Revanth Reddy said it was the responsibility of an employer to stand by those who work hard for an organisation or government. He thanked government employees for their role in helping the State move forward and said the government wanted to provide security to every employee.
He also urged employees to work one extra hour every day to help increase government revenue. The Chief Minister said the additional revenue would be used for the welfare of employees. He claimed that unlike the previous government, which struggled to pay salaries on time, the Congress government was now crediting salaries on the first day of every month.
Speaking at the event, Revanth Reddy described himself as a “group mistri” who leads his team and said he would not be bothered by criticism. He said he came from a middle-class family and understood the struggles faced by such households. He added that although positions and titles may change, his bond with the people would remain the same.
The Chief Minister also assured employees that the government would honour its promise on Pay Revision Commission benefits. He said the trust of employees was a major strength for the government and called them the permanent support system of the State.
Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had provided 70,000 jobs after coming to power. He also used the occasion to defend the government’s Musi river rejuvenation and Metro expansion plans, saying the opposition was trying to block every development initiative in the State.
